Book launch of Angelo Barsetti's Elle erre dans le songe, il respire ailleurs at FIL

Angelo Barsetti’s book, Elle erre dans le songe, il respire ailleurs, devoted to Louise Bédard, will be launched on October 3, 2026, as part of the Festival international de la littérature (FIL).

Angelo Barsetti, a makeup artist and photographer with close ties to the dance world, presents a series of images—a delicate portrait of dancer and choreographer Louise Bédard. He follows her gestures, step by step, revealing all the poetry and mystery of this artist, who seems to carry within Her a thousand women, a thousand secrets.

Meeting Louise when she founded her company in 1990 was one of the most important and meaningful encounters of his artistic life. From the outset, there was a chemistry between Her and him—a gentle rapport and a sense of creative freedom in makeup, costume, and imagery alike. To encounter Louise is to allow oneself, from one production to the next, to be immersed in such a generous body of work, composed of small stories filled with great humanity, to which She gives herself body and soul.

He photographed Louise time and again for the promotional images accompanying her choreographic works, but they also enjoyed continuing these encounters to explore other artistic avenues. He wanted to share the fruits of their meetings and play, and of his gaze upon Her. The images are accompanied by texts from women writers—tributes to Louise that extend this sensitive, multifaceted portrait.
