Three new film documents by Louise Bédard Danse

We are pleased to announce three pieces of good news concerning the broadcasting of film documents produced by the Louise Bédard Danse company. As part of the 40th edition of the International Festival of Films on Art (FIFA 2022), which will be held from March 15 to 27, 2022, two previously unseen film documents will be presented.

LA FEMME OVALE, a choreography by Louise Bédard created in 2003 and reinterpreted by the remarkable dancer Marilyn Daoust on an original music by Jean Derome and a costume design by Angelo Barsetti. The video was directed by Mario Côté with Louise Bédard and the participation of Steeve Desrosiers in the photo direction. The document is 59 minutes long.

Note that LA FEMME OVALE, will be presented in theaters on Saturday, March 26 at 2:00 pm at the Canadian Centre for Architecture in Montreal and will constitute its first worldwide broadcast. It will also be part of the webcast program.

Produced by Louise Bédard Danse with the support of the Canada Council for the Arts, will be the second document presented at FIFA online and during La Nuit de la danse in Montreal. DÉMESURES revisits with great freedom various sections of Promesses presented in the fall of 2021 in the spaces of the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec. FIFA also offers a program at the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec where DÉMESURES will open on Sunday, March 20 at 4:00 pm. The film will also be shown continuously on a screen as part of a pop-up installation at the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec throughout the festival and during the museum's opening hours.

Finally, ODALISCA, a brand new choreography by Louise Bédard created in 2021 in collaboration with dancer Louis-Élyan Martin and directed by Mario Côté, began its international run with the Boston Independent Film Awards (USA) and the Dublin World Film Festival in Ireland- where it won the award for Best Dance Short Film. It was then presented at the Stockholm Short Festival (Sweden) as semi-finalist for the best experimental film, is part of the official selection of the New York Independent Cinema Awards (USA), Tokyo Short Film Festival (Japan) and has been semi-finalist at Roma Short Film (Italy). The 13-minute short film is inspired by the languid poses of women painted by Ingres and Delacroix and reveals the sensuality that a dancing male body can express, to the music of John Cage, Eight Whiskus, remixed by Sutja Guitterez, performed by Joan La Barbara (voice) and a section version of Eight Wiskus by Aisha Orazbayeva (violin).

We are more than happy that these three works, which testify to an approach that is so diverse, can be found in such prestigious festivals, including the 40th FIFA 2022!

We look forward to meeting you,

 Louise Bédard
