The project roots
Série Solos is an ongoing experiment where the art of solo becomes a tool to explore the intimate relationship that is created between a dancer and each spectator. It is also an experiment on space where the usual contours of the theatre stage are blurred, while a new stage emerges: the personal stage of one’s gaze and one’s inner space. Série Solos differs from the typical “finished” dance work in that it aims to deploy itself as an ongoing creation cycle, where the work is renewed with each new setting, with each new stage shared with each new audience.

The projects’ first steps began in August of 2010 during a 2-week creative research residency in Rimouski. Creation research has continued last autumn and the first public viewings of the work will occur in Montreal in May of 2011 at the end of a six week artistic residency at Circuit-Est centre chorégraphique. During selected moments of the process, dance presenters and the public will be invited to comment on the different formats that will be experimented.

Série Solos in Parc Lafontaine/Théâtre de Verdure
Five rallies in five park locations, to witness the live adaption and rehearsal, of a series of solos in different settings. And a final rendezvous, on the sixth day, to stroll through all five locations with the performers.
